How often should you really change the ATF on an RS7?

I'm hoping someone here can settle an argument I've been having with a friend who owns a performance shop. He keeps telling me that the whole "lifetime fluid" thing from Audi is complete nonsense and that I should be changing the transmission oil every 40,000 miles at the absolute maximum, especially on a high torque car like the RS7. I've had mine for about three years now and honestly I've never touched the gearbox fluid because the dealer told me it wasn't necessary, but lately I've been noticing some occasional roughness when the car is cold and it's got me worried. I do quite a bit of spirited driving on the weekends and I've tracked the car a few times, so I'm guessing that's way harder on the fluid than normal commuting. The thing is, I've looked into getting it done but the prices are all over the place and some garages don't even have the proper equipment to vacuum fill the system correctly. I came across some useful info at auditransmissionrepair.ae/audi-transmission-oil-change/ that explained the procedure in detail, and it seems like there's a specific temperature range they have to hit when checking the level, which not every place bothers with. I'm leaning towards just getting it done for peace of mind but I'd love to hear from other RS or S model owners about their experience and whether they noticed a real difference afterwards. Also, is there any harm in doing it if the car is already at 70,000 kms and has never been touched, like could the new fluid actually cause issues by dislodging old deposits or something?
